The project is based on the requalification of the area and the introduction of a Cruise Port, which can revitalise Marghera and solve the well known issue of the cruise ships in the Venetian Lagoon. Therefore, mobility and connectivity is a key aspect of the proposal since it implies managing an enormous flow of people and resources as efficiently as possible.
After carrying an exhaust multi criteria analysis, it emerged that one solution would be to integrate the area using a combination of the existing bus and tramway systems that run from Mestre/Marghera to Venezia.
Another important aspect would be linking the park and port to the rest of the city and the adjacent “Parco San Giuliano” using pedestrian and bicycle lanes and a bike sharing system. By doing so, the green areas in the waterfront, would be consolidated into a park system, ensuring its integration within the urban tissue.
