PBL Circular Economy – Material

Davide Cauciello, Judit Llabrés, Sandrine Moura, Giorgia Soini, Federico Zoccarato

The question of circular economy is emerging more and more in times of scarce of raw and rare materials. Also, every day people discard tons of electronic devices containing precious metals and rare earths that are not recycled and lost forever. With new developed technologies, it is possible to recycle 95% of the device. Yet, great quantities are exported to third world countries or lost forever in landfills.

During the workshop we discussed methods to bring the recycling and reuse process to the local scale and thus bring closer the problematic to the user. It appears evident that we need to sensibilise the people to re-use and recycle. In our approach we suggest that the local shops, recycling and reuse programs are linked together and take place also on the public space.
