This interactive webplatform gathers ongoing research by design in three European metropolitan regions. The goal of this inter university e-studio is to explore territorial metabolism and an ecosystem approach to urbanism. In 2017, e-studio focus on three medium size industrial town in transition : Vilvoorde (Belgium), Venice Porto Marghera (Italy) and Tarragona (Spain). The residential and productive ecosystems of these old industrial towns, located next to highly dynamic urban areas, and characterized by a combination of small and ancient human settlements, large-scale industrial infrastructure, and a diverse demographic profile, are the breeding ground for socio-economic and spatial innovation.
